Dopedrone is a one man project started in 2000. He got his influences from shoegazer, stoner rock, 70’s progressive and psychedelic rock. Over the years his music has become more electronic, and can best be described as electronica / shoegazer / doom / noise. Its spacious, heavy and beautiful. He is also the drummer of the shoegaze/post rock band Yeti Island. ~~~~~~~~ ( ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AMBIENT / SHOEGAZE I came across. Watch out for this one. They are definitely one of THIS WEEK TOP. Not necessarily the same but I' ll easily stick them together with KLIMT, Kimtak Building Yeti Island, Kashiwa Daisuke, Matryoshka and the likes. The entire album is simply splendid and flawless with a variety of tunes. Just don't worry about the " stoner rock, 70’s progressive and psychedelic rock " part of the review. Neither [ Contact Book ] nor [ Inner Sanctuum or [ Apokalupsis Eschaton ] got nothing to do with stoner-rock. By all means GET THEM ALL. Review for OVUM by Chronotope Project

Crafting a concept album is an incredibly difficult task. Tying together a cohesive narrative across a record’s worth of songs isn’t just daunting, it’s an endeavour that even some of the industry’s finest have failed to do memorably. This task, however, becomes notably more difficult when you’re dealing in the abstract via instrumental soundscapes. That is what Chronotope Project, the moniker of composer Jeffrey Ericson Allen, attempts to do with his latest project, ‘Ovum.’

Review of A703 by Naal

NAAL is an eclectic music project led by Chicago composer Dave Mantel. This talented musician has a true passion for great melodies and haunting musical textures. His blend of ambient, shoegaze and experimental drone music feels personal and unique, echoing the work of artists such as Slowdive, Boards of Canada or Sigur Ros, just to mention a few.
