Mobdividual Profile

These sounds are not supposed to remind you of "music"... hopefully they are reminiscent of things forgotten... or enjoyed... or depressed... or inspiring... the score for a film about 'discovery'; in the manner your life or moment defines... -Mobdividual Plaintive arpeggios delicately morph into waves of coruscating textures. Shimmering ambiance fills the room, reverberating off of the interior walls of your skull.

Where is this journey leading us?

Something sublimely evocative of ages past is summoned, the vibe of the ancients spread forth, reminiscent of a great stone fireplace which looms over a great hall, hearing and never judging scores of stories decade after month, as families are born, grow, wither, and crumble. The somber reflections stretch through time, ignoring feeble, transient emotions, amalgamating them into a sweep of something beyond sadness or joy. Grass, trees, shrubs and rocks begin to sprout mechanical contraptions which are somehow equally organic, transforming into android nature hybrids. Mathematical functions of Earth remind without words from whence the breath of the wind sprouts. Reaching so far away from time, into a place that is neither the past nor future, creates something parallel, alternate. This is where you will sway, held aloft by a feather. - animus invidious

[ Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] By “Mobdividual”

Mobdividual started back in 2010 and [Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] is the sixth release by Brian Elyo. B. Elyo aka [ Mobdividual ] has consistently been putting out new materials year after year. While [ These Are The People To Whom Music Is Meditation ], which is more of an audio biography concept signature, the latest release [ Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] is what we would describe as… minimal in compositions and arrangements focussing on a live feel.

Experiencing the sound as well as studying the movements in great depth, one may have the feeling that this new title is broken up into four chapters. The assembled movements have to be played in a continuous manner to truly feel the experience the sound has to offer.

As this cough will choke me I will implore you to have my body opened So that I may not be buried alive [ Frédéric Chopin ]

In chapters or not necessarily in chapters the movements are drawn to one another as it interprets meaningful themes such as, birth and death, life cycle, dusk till dawn, north to south etcetera etcetera. Music at its core even when focused on something real or hidden for that matter, is nothing less than a slow building and evolving process. And with [ Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] that theory becomes evident from the first listen.

The triggering part of [ Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] is, even though we are not talking about monumental composition with staggering build-up and colossal waves, the listening experience [ Embrace Your Babes, and Write Me A Line ] marks an amazing Drone motifs tangled around circuit noises that makes an emotional impact from the word go. I personally had a go on this album over a dozen’s of time, I for one, I dig all [ Mob’ ] works from his early days, but if you were to asked, then yes… this new release is most likely B. Elyo most prominent work to date. It’s got a lot to offer in terms concise and structured distorted noises. All done in a pristine way.

[ Mobdividual ]. This one is somewhat minimal in composition and arrangement ( i.e. no overdubbed layers of guitars ). This is the best album I have recorded. Completely live the weekend of May 30th 2014 using my live setup, it is very much a recorded version of the live Mobdividual experience. Overall I wanted to bring you down into the basement, with me each song was recorded in different a session, take-after-take until I was happy with a version. I then copy / pasted the songs into their intended order leaving an overlap from session to session.

Presented in Mono

The main title and the songs title come from Chopins published letters and are some of his last written words before his death. This whole thing was inspired by his march it's minimally doomy and emotionally heavy just incredible. Sound gets a little unwiedly downstairs so this one is a little raw Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoy!

Review for OVUM by Chronotope Project

Crafting a concept album is an incredibly difficult task. Tying together a cohesive narrative across a record’s worth of songs isn’t just daunting, it’s an endeavour that even some of the industry’s finest have failed to do memorably. This task, however, becomes notably more difficult when you’re dealing in the abstract via instrumental soundscapes. That is what Chronotope Project, the moniker of composer Jeffrey Ericson Allen, attempts to do with his latest project, ‘Ovum.’

Review of A703 by Naal

NAAL is an eclectic music project led by Chicago composer Dave Mantel. This talented musician has a true passion for great melodies and haunting musical textures. His blend of ambient, shoegaze and experimental drone music feels personal and unique, echoing the work of artists such as Slowdive, Boards of Canada or Sigur Ros, just to mention a few.
