[ Squadra Omega ] ~ Italian project born as a free impro(bable) session combo, fully cohordinated by Nihil Is Me and Mr MojoMatt. Sounds like an old drunken kosmik orchestra mixed with the noises from a 56k modem.

[ Tenebroso ] ~ is the result of a night of sounds played together by Omega Kaanan (the Intelligence) , OmegaNene (Movie Star Junkies, Vermillion Sands), OmegaMatt (the Mojomatics), OmegaG8 (With Love), OmegaMac (Apoteosi del Mistero). Session recorded with an 8 track cassette recorder at OutsideInside Studio during a joyfull night in May 2008.

No fear of the future, no fear of the past (space is the space, place is the place).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is said that all empires are built upon the ruins of previous empires. It is said that destruction breeds construction. In times of deadlocked aesthetics and stylistic stagnation the time is nigh for a destruction of the old and the construction of the new. From the rubble of a post-post modern world, Apollo is rising and he is accompanied by a tribe of psychedelic wasteland fellaheen – the Squadra Omega. The winds are shifting, the fog is lifting and a new age is a-coming. Spaceage Cubist-Free-Jazz clashes with Pygmy-Percussion-No Wave-Kraut Rock causing a sonic fusion leading to a complete derangement of the senses, an assault on the frontal lobe and permanent hallucination. This is music from the third eye.

Warning: Suitable only for sonic adventurers who dare to explore the darkness of the forest and the mystery of the deep blue sea. (M.A. Littler - November 2010). Now check out the above preview or [ Tenebroso ] on archive.org but given the fact that I had a thorough listen on all the releases I'd go right ahead. [ The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble ] / [ The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation ] and the likes fans are in for a MASSIVE TREAT on this one. Start with the Self Title but be sure to get your hands on all of them, even the live session is a gigantic kick.

The Great Long Distance by John D. Reedy

The Great Long Distance is an audible recollection of the first 12 months of a long distance relationship, including the highs and lows and moments in between. It is a journal without words, each of the 12 tracks representing each month respectively. Inspired by the format of NIN's "Ghosts I-IV", the album is a sonic tapestry of different moods and themes, with various recurring motifs and the subtle melding of synthesizer and samples; the result something not quite classical, ambient or electronic - rather, an eclectic blend of the three. For fans of Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm and later Ulver

Review of "Burial Songs" by Palehorse/Palerider

In order to excel in the independent music industry, an act has to define itself as especially unique with a sound quite unlike anything else in the community. This is a tall order, one that isn’t easily filled by acts entering variations of rock music due to the immense amount of bands flooding the scene right now. Palehorse/Palerider, a “doomgaze” trio from Denver, has released an EP entitled ‘Burial Songs’ that does a surprisingly superb job at separating itself from the pack. Let’s delve into it.

Review for "I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear" by Voices from Deep Below

Even though the independent rock scene is quite inundated with new acts, there’s always a welcome place for an outfit that changes the formula enough to be consistently interesting and worth taking notice of. The New York-based alternative rock group Voices from Deep Below attempts to do just that, fusing together a variety of styles into a surprisingly coherent sound. Their new record, “I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear”, is a five song album that navigates alt-rock, experimental, and borderline metal and progressive influences all at the same time.
