* * * * * The Sound of Rescue * * * * *

[ The Sound of Rescue ] is an ambient ~ dream pop ~ drone project from Baltimore, Maryland, USA. At our core, we are simply 3 brothers intent on making inspiring and engaging music. We try our best to write music and make sounds that reflect both the joy of today and the hope of tomorrow…you will not find the production, the excess, or the artificial in this music. It is our hope that you will find the same kind of happiness in our songs that we felt while writing and recording them in our own unique fashion.

[ Sketches ] ~ is simply a collection of our earliest ideas and demos. These tracks are raw snapshots of inspiration striking at given moments in time. Some are planned and executed, while others were simply stumbled upon. We recorded all of [ Sketches ] in our basement, as well as in our apartment at school. It’s available in a number of formats for [ pay-what-you-want ] pricing on [ BandCamp ] .

[ Furniture Music ] ~ We will admit that we have personal problems with perfection – it bothers us. We don’t always like polish and we can’t stand excess. Instead, we tend to prefer raw, rude sounds with a human touch. Our favorite things have always been decidedly on the side of “less” as opposed to “more.” We wanted to make an album that truly reflected these character traits. These recordings are certainly not perfect, and that’s OK. They are not refined, they are not intrusive, they do not strive to impress.

They are to be considered as accompaniments, or perhaps more appropriately, as complements to your activity or nonactivity. These songs can, in the words of Erik Satie, “mingle with the sound of the knives and forks at dinner.” We would suggest playing them quietly and not thinking too hard while you listen. Most of these pieces were recorded very efficiently at odd hours of the day. No overdubs were used. No more than 2 instruments per song are featured. This album is very real, immediate, and completely at ease with its place in the background…just as we intended when we quietly recorded it. [ Dedicated to Kevin Bates, who meant more than words can say to so many people. ]

[ Losing Your Bearings ] ~ This album was written as a personal response to future uncertainty. “Where am I now? Where am I headed? Where have I been?” These are all questions common to man as he searches for his place in the world. In these pieces, tonal sound mass trumps traditional melody and resolution. As in life, there’s little definition or certainty to be found here; no road maps or clear indicators. Patience and calm are encouraged. Wherever your destination lies, wherever your thoughts and travels take you, may this collection of sounds serve as a fitting soundtrack for your journey.

[ Under the Starlit Sky (Single) ] ~ The Eternal Twilight (Int’l) and The Sound of Rescue (USA) are excited to present the result of our latest collaboration. Many different considerations went into the writing process for this single, yet the idea that most strongly resonated with us became apparent very quickly. Our groups, though in close artistic relation, are literally oceans and continents apart by physical measures.

Under the Starlit Sky is our attempt at bridging the physical gap between us by reflecting on that vast, borderless space stretching above all of us. It goes without saying that [ Hammock ] is also a source of incredible inspiration for both of our bands. We wish to thank them for the inspiring role that their music plays in our musical efforts, including this one.

New record nameed after the band itself  (“The Sound Of Rescue”) and features about an hour of new music. It is much more “post-rock” than the band older drone material. The album is currently on pre-order, but set to be released on Monday, July the 9th. Three tracks is made available for stream at this stage and its TOTALLY UTTERLY AND AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. DO NOTE SKIP.

Negativity doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Frustration, disappointment, rejection…these things can, and should, be catalysts for our drive towards growth and progress; spurs on the heels of change and triumph pushing us forward from a bleak present into a promising future. Amidst chaos and depression lies hope and beauty – we only need to embrace the bad to move on to the good. It is with this spirit of reconciliation that we present this self-titled collection of audio recordings.

You’ll hear it in the very first seconds of this album: a warm, crackling, overloaded sound that unabashedly and rudely interjects its attitude and grit into the foreground. It’s an “angry” noise, you might say, that permeates and fills this record from start to finish, and yet still manages to work in tandem with a certain bit of higher fidelity and crystalline aural hope embodied by cleaner tones and prettier textures. We slammed the inputs of tube preamps and IC chips and spun our echoes into wildly oscillating madness, but we didn’t forget to include a gracefully pristine counterbalance of clean kick drums and synthesized drones. We embraced the ugliness and developed the beauty; included the dirty and welcomed the pure.

This is the world we live in. There is beauty and ugliness, gladness and anger, hope and discouragement all coexisting and weaving in and out of the unceasing traffic of our daily lives. It is our task to learn how best to accept and learn from this duality. With “The Sound of Rescue,” we’ve tried to come to grips with this reality and present music that captures this tension, both literally and figuratively.
