[ Sugarm ] is a one man project painting sound that falls into the general ambient/drone obscure/drone category, but it isn’t exactly music for swallowing pills in a running bath tub. It’s kinetic, samples always shifting and travelling. Sounds like stuff by [ The Fun Years ] ~ [ Valet ] or [ Yellow Swans ] but works with structures equally informed by the beat dudes out in LA and early rock and roll (kinda).
I read this article on Foxy Digitalis recently about the current strain of Basinski-style deteriorating drone, so I started to think about what my stuff is like. The best I can come up with is that it’s all about “loops and instruments” smashing together, sometimes to make a sick groove, sometimes for the kind of wreck that James Spader would masturbate in.
I’ve been playing music for 15 years now (I’m 21), but this is the first music I’ve made that ever seemed worth sharing. I’m hoping to scrape together some funds to press this thing in a few months, but in the mean time I have decided to let go of this baby digitally. I hope everyone listen and most importantly enjoy and if you do feel free to spread it like no one business.
I figured since there is a market for this particular sound and since the community of ambient, obscure and drone sound is taking a quantum leap I’d reach and share my yet most appealing work ever. In addition also check out check out my [ tumblr ] for some awesome pics of guns.

If [ Basinki ] is all about decay and fade, then [ Sugarm ] is all about the tenuous seams that stitch together our relationships, our cities, our space-time. Somewhere between the “construction and collapse” and “tiny but yet atomic”.
