In Transmission was formed in 2009 by Martin Diaz, Garrett Carroll, Jerome DeLeon, Daniel Cardoza, and Darrell Schwaiger. The band recorded their 1st EP [ Signal To The Ground ] in 2011 followed by their latest one [ First Light ] Both records are available on BandCamp for streaming in its entirety and downloads are set at a fixed price at this stage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coming From Southern California USA, [ In Transmission ] is a five-piece alternative rock band revisiting and reforming the early alternative sound for this new era. On their debut effort [ Signal To The Ground ] the band invoke influence from the likes of [ Sky Architects ] ~ [ The Kays Larvelle ] and [ The Gothenburg Address ]. In Transmission takes on a quantum leap of their sonic sound through modern filter of [ Junius-like ] and [ California Stories Uncovered ]. The result is simply magical, complex but yet entertaining all the way.

Let it be [ Signal To The Ground ] or [ First Light ] BOTH records are brilliantly well produced as it gives you this “wanna keep listening” feeling, it's all very intriguing and if for some reason, you were to be disturbed by a call you’d be sure to miss out on something, possibly something very important in this particular case. As much as the arrangements sound simple on the 1st or second listens itself but it sure is clever, complex, and above all inventive.

Those guys seem to go to great lengths by including majority of the elements deriving from post-rock, shoegaze and alternative in order to construct something very listenable and solid. They do not limit themselves to a particular genre; instead they blend varieties of sound they can conjure. At times the shifts are abrupt as in the late two and a half minute of “What’s Left Behind” from [ Sound To The Ground ] but then again define abrupt shifting in musical “royaume” . Usually I’d say start with the latest but in this case make your way from the earliest title [ Signal To The Ground ]. BOTH REC deserves a thorough listen.

The Great Long Distance by John D. Reedy

The Great Long Distance is an audible recollection of the first 12 months of a long distance relationship, including the highs and lows and moments in between. It is a journal without words, each of the 12 tracks representing each month respectively. Inspired by the format of NIN's "Ghosts I-IV", the album is a sonic tapestry of different moods and themes, with various recurring motifs and the subtle melding of synthesizer and samples; the result something not quite classical, ambient or electronic - rather, an eclectic blend of the three. For fans of Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm and later Ulver

Review of "Burial Songs" by Palehorse/Palerider

In order to excel in the independent music industry, an act has to define itself as especially unique with a sound quite unlike anything else in the community. This is a tall order, one that isn’t easily filled by acts entering variations of rock music due to the immense amount of bands flooding the scene right now. Palehorse/Palerider, a “doomgaze” trio from Denver, has released an EP entitled ‘Burial Songs’ that does a surprisingly superb job at separating itself from the pack. Let’s delve into it.

Review for "I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear" by Voices from Deep Below

Even though the independent rock scene is quite inundated with new acts, there’s always a welcome place for an outfit that changes the formula enough to be consistently interesting and worth taking notice of. The New York-based alternative rock group Voices from Deep Below attempts to do just that, fusing together a variety of styles into a surprisingly coherent sound. Their new record, “I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear”, is a five song album that navigates alt-rock, experimental, and borderline metal and progressive influences all at the same time.
