~ Sea Of Disorder ~

2013-08-07 13:11:59 UTC

Gentle as waves, that break at the shoreline in a mild autumn afternoon. Monumental and frightening as a thunderstorm in the open sea in a cold and chilly night. Such is the sound of [ Sea Of Disorder ]  from Salzburg. The two guys from Austria are one of the few - if not the only - band from this region that dedicated their work to the darker side of sound. But not only do you find rough and brutal sounding doom soundwalls, but also some places of light, where the ears can take a break and where the mind creates pictures of beautiful sunsets and the soul gets soothed. And just these two extremes is the sound, they wanted to create on their first self-title EP called ~ Sea Of Disorder ~ which is a concept album using lots of maritime themes to describe how 'something' (  which is to be defined by the listener himself  ) is awakening deep below the sea as a metaphor for the feelings - weather good or bad - in everyones' self, that are suppress from everyday life influences.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT title all the way which in this case obviously goes for fans of [ The Ocean ] ~ [ Rosetta ] ~ [ Pelican ] and the likes. [ ~ Sea Of Disorder ~ "EP" ] is about 'something' awakening deep below the Sea as a metaphor for the beast that slumbers in every human being and is being suppressed by the daily circumstances that are going on in everyday life that block the real emotions and feelings people would and should have... S.O.D will be releasing the Ep physically in February on "Le Crépuscule du Soir productions" label and the new merchandise is available now by writing to S.O.D via their FaceBook page.

Review for 52 by Orellana

Orellana is a neo-classical/post-rock collective hailing from Bristol, UK. Their new album “52”, released in late December, brought in the new year with it’s explosive and intricate sound. The project’s music transcends genre definitions in order to focus on a broad, diverse concept that is more emotional than tangible. This particular release is full of rich and diverse arrangements, but it is also a powerful exercise in minimalism, one that showcases the strength of very few notes placed in the right spots. The simplicity of the arrangement is actually one of the strongest aspects of this entire release: there’s a palpable stillness created by the long, drone notes in the background, which almost makes you feel like the world is happening in slow motion. When the chords and notes change, it feels quite monumental due to the beautiful contrast between the stillness of the background textures and the expressive sound of the guitar-based melodies.
