Review:

From the first self-title “Glorie” album to a series of exquisite videos released in (2012) this enigmatic group of musicians has come a long way. A week ago their latest brand new EP “Falling” made its way to my inbox like a deserted child with the need of some proper attention. So I decided to go along with the flaw giving it all I got.

Without beating around the bush the big question is… so how is this new EP by [ Glorie ]? Well to start with “Falling” is absolutely moving and thought-provoking. There is a strong sense of nostalgia across the entire EP, more specifically on the track “Smoke” and “Falling” which almost left me to tears while listening to over and over. The one thing we can all be certain of is… With this new release [ Glorie’s ] aim is not to rebuilt or reinvent the term post-rock or at least at this phase of their musical careers but their approach on this EP is utterly and undoubtedly ecstatic. Their notes and simple execution gleamed in the dark and bring life and hopes to the surface.

“Falling EP” accomplishes a set of strongly defined strings command that evokes some of the most profound inner emotion I have ever experience. [ Glorie’s ] manifest with major strings from their heart and slender violins chords that are undeniably touching as they reveal every fragile layers in sequence and in harmony. Piano / Keys are totally well executed and flows flawlessly in parallel with violin and cello. No glitch, no break up, no hiccup, it’s like a whole bunch of instrumental equipment’s that came together and aligned themselves PROPER and in order. Almost as if they were made to complement each other’s naturally.

Downside and Favourite Tracks.

“Falling EP” total length is only about twenty-five minutes in duration. It’s not so much of a downside since it’s an EP and we can all understand the concept behind but when facing music of such caliber and sounds that are executed with such precision, believe me twenty-five minutes is not long enough, you’d wish for the sound never to end.

Favourite tracks, the entire EP is totally BRILLIANT and extremely well produced but if you really want to know “Run Away”, “Smoke” and “Falling” are KILLER MOVEMENTS and definitely the high of this EP. A lot of people has already managed to get this recording in high quality waves format but for those who haven’t yet, well do expect something utterly beautiful coming your way soon. __[ M S T ].

"The Album 'REST' was recorded and mastered by myself in my own Proclambient (means Progressive-Classical-Ambient) Studio at my Home in Germany. It was a process about one year, I put all my ideas together, first on piano (that's played by myself on a Midi keyboard). The speeches on "Broken Home" I took from a Creative Commons blog --it's a preacher who's talking and weeping about God and Jesus-- together it's my interpretation of a broken home that's left and leaving. All strings I used were formed from synthesizer tunes into real strings by myself.

The dialogue on "Playback rewind..." are recorded in Dutch speech one year ago by myself; it's an old Woman which would not leave alone her old cassette player. Sad story I think, deep minded and terrible. "Easy Steps Moving Downward" is the newest one on this release. It's my own favorite, a little bit jazzy I think. It's a view to the next releases I'm working on. The drums are created by myself on a drum machine that I use for my computer, also Midi into real stuff.

[ Argumentum e Silentio - Ten Sticks of Willow Charcoal ]

[ Ten Sticks of Willow Charcoal ] is the latest release from Marko H. AKA [ The Nikki Grace Experience ]. Although this album has been released under a different moniker [ Argumentum e Silentio ] which is Marko H side project. [ Argumentum e Silentio ] combines instrumental compositions with samples and field recordings, with influences from ambient and soundtrack music. The idea of [ argumentum e silentio ] was born with my novel "quaint music - the alphabet theory" -- an a-z story of music mysteries. So i would like to thank all the people who loves my work with -[ argumentum e silentio ] and [ The Nikki Grace Experience ].

[T.N.G.E] - Hearse: Black And White Opinion

Major thanks to the collaborating artist [ Lotte Kestner ]… one of the better beneficiaries of ambient music and needles to say prominence of the present decade [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] a gentle and exquisite of a lead melody accompanied by piano and a steady beat. But above all else… we talking bonus point here guys, [ Lotte Kestner ] lovely lead vocal.

“Hearse: Black and White Opinion” is [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] 10th releases and rapidly attaining the zenith point of an abstract and underground success. All without any radical change from where the band was in 2012 with “Rest” or “Halo”. Marko Hupel oversaw all the production; the core emphasis remained a nexus point between minimalism and ambient all shrouded in mystery of a long journey.

Though many songs work with full arrangements, for instance "The Heartshaped Coffins," or “Proudly Waving Farewell,” those pieces attributes thick and dominating resonance but never once overpowering the combination of the various elements that are blend together. All movements on this particular album are heavily stripped-down to demonstrate in various ways as to how [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] or the collaborating artists for that matter, makes a virtue out of simplicity.

We’ve had many previews of this album “Quiet Painting,” “Proudly Waving Farewell” and more, we knew well in advance something big and totally exquisite is going to hit us on the 26th of April 2013. Truth be said there is no absolute point in beating around the bush over the fact that [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] 10th releases includes some of the most beautiful crowning moment within the ambient scene. Many will agree that “Hearse: Black and White Opinion” somehow… magically possesses the power to force you in to romanticism, if not I’ll even stretch describing it as a nostalgic breakdown and weeping tears.

But that in mind let’s not forget while “Hearse: Black and White Opinion” attracts an unlimited elements of subtlety and nostalgia, movement such as “Homeless (The Wisconsin Oddysey) come’s dressed up with an up-beat attire and is so beautifully arrange that it will leaves you breathless. We’ve got eight months to go before the year end and I’ve already put aside 5 of my top 2013 releases. This one my friend jumps to the 01st top of 2013 release. I can only wish for this release to be press on Vinyl or print on CD’s as a limited edition.

All You've Seen [ Elements Part II ].

Elements – Part II:

Swiss Post Rock band All You’ve Seen was founded in 2008. The band recorded their first EP and an album without a bass player. In early 2011, a new drummer and a bassist joined and the second EP was recorded as a quartet. Spring 2012 was a hard time. A founding member & the second guitarist left for a long journey through Asia, right after the bass player quit. Later that year, with a new man on the bass, the band decided to continue as a trio.

In winter 2012 a new album was recorded, which became “Elements – Part ll” with which All You’ve Seen is starting a new chapter. Not only is it the first full length album in over three years, it also marks a new style in sound and structure of the music. It’s definitely the darkest album to date by the band. It starts and ends with an over 11-minutes long song, that builds a massive wall of sound out of a simple melody. With no need for complexity, the band take their time with build ups and add structure to each track until the time is right for each one to implode into a melodic supernova.

NOTE: Yet another awesome release from the German Label. We are half way through the year and we've had some stunning releases from many monikers and from [ Oxide-Tones ] I must say point... this is the 09th releases already and we still got another 6 months to go. Amazing indeed.

[ Ascendere ]. Hey there! I can’t believe I’m finally writing this message. We’re happy to announce the details of our upcoming release, which we’ve been working on since last November, and since we’ve been quiet about it for so long, we’re going to compensate for it with the thorough description of what’s been going on the last six months in regards to it.

After our last performance in 2012, which was at the Astral International Festival in September 2012, we decided to enter the studio to record fresh material. The next two months were filled with rehearsals to get the tracks’ sound perfected, and in late November we stuffed our drummer’s car full of instruments and gear to hit the road. The chosen studio was located in city of Zelenograd, where we spent one and a half days recording drums and bass. Though we liked the quality of the recorded material, we were forced to leave this place, and so recording of the guitars and violins took place in another studio the following weekend.

Thus, at the beginning of December we thought that the recording stage of the process was over, so Ivan, our sound-engineer who became a dedicated member of our gang, and I started to work on the mixing. During this almost magical process, we used all our spare time, even nights, and a few late ideas came. Consequently we decided to revisit the studio for an extra day to fulfill these ideas in early January, and that’s when the recording stage actually ended.

At the same time, I was desperately searching for an illustrator and a record label – and later, even for a mastering engineer. There were lots of rejections, and that was the most depressing and complex part of the whole quest. Nevertheless, we eventually found some marvelous professionals who agreed to work with us – famous British engineer Ian Shepherd did brilliant and complex work of mastering of our CD, while the cover artwork is now almost completed by the amazing American artist Brian Luong. Plus, we joined dunk!records, who made us part of their family.

And now I’m delighted to say that this quest is almost over. Now we are waiting for the CD to get printed in the Czech Republic next month, and then shipped to dunk! headquarters in Zottegem, Belgium, from which it’ll be shipped to those who’d like to have the tangible release with booklets.

The title is “Ascendere”, Italian for “to ascend”, or, “to rise”. It’s going to be a 30 minute long 5-track EP, with 4 fresh compositions and 1 already released song (but in its “reborn” form we discovered when started to play it live). Though one of the fresh tracks, “Anemoi”, is already available to listen to as a part of the “dunk!sampler”, the EP version of it will be slightly different due to different mastering. It will all be available for free download and CD order this September. A more specific date will be announced closer to autumn.

[ Gareth Dickson ]. Solo acoustic guitar with effects and vocals. Gareth also tours with Vashti Bunyan as her guitarist. Debut album Spruce Goose was released in 2005. Since then he has released music with Lo Recordings, Benbecula Records, Polymorphic and Unlabel among others. He has toured Europe supporting Juana Molina and toured the UK supporting Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.

“A solo artist singing and playing acoustic guitar - sometimes effected, his songs slip between a beautifully sparse, emotive fragility ( recalling Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, etc )... and denser instrumentals ( recalling Eno or Labradford ). Very cool stuff.” Fatcat Records.

And to break the vibe from everything we've covered today, this is just the perfect beat, set apart from the world of post-rock [ Meta, The Rat King ] AKA [ Metazen ] is back with a new release "collected scabs vol. II which is even darker and more tripping and than any other previous releases. Regular readers / visitors will definitely agree [ Metazen ] has released a string of masterpieces that redefined and changed the whole outlook of Hip-hop on a grand scale. This new record is a combination of what a "commercial outfit" looks and sounds like v/s the approach that relates to the mainstream and topping elements of what makes a beautiful blend of Hip-hop. Marco Cervellin, the force behind Wacky Southern Current, returns with his third album on No-Source. Argonautica continues the trend of high quality instrumental albums from Marco. To give Wacky Southern Current one genre is to sell the music short. A wide range of influences fill up each release from Marco. Argonautica is no exception. This is a more guitar-centric album with Kraut influences, particularly on the track "We Are Argonauts." "French Radio" is a short burst of experimental soundscape, while "Blues in A" is an excellent seven minute jazz workout. Wacky Southern Current heads is new directions with such musicianship that it's hard to believe they haven't been there all along. Argonautica is: Marco Cervellin - guitars, bass, keyboards. Following up with the release of "Liquid Dreaming," came the release of the second coming of the Melt Like Clouds chronicles. "Mile High Island" is the sophomore album of this project. Focusing on isolation, reclusion and living inside yourself; this adventure of sounds portrays the mindset and endeavors of a loner who is misunderstood. Embark

[ Lost ] is the kind of album / sound that makes you going straight to the point without beating around the bush trying hard to capture other’s attention. It’s pretty downright and straight forward and YES… I am in this particular instance going to throw in my thoughts, feeling and emotions predominantly based on the 01st movement alone, which in this case is “Lost I”. Well… after all it’s an over 25minutes track filled with so much goodness that I can literally write 25 paragraphs on it. But fear not as I won’t go that far and I will try my upmost best to keep it as concise and as relevant as possible.

“Lost I” or shall I say [ Lost ] find Linear Belles returning to the themes and sounds covering the core root of original drone-scape and experimental-ambientscape in a stunning slow-pace. By now purely based on the consistency and dedication of David we’d all agree from his early recordings to his latest release we are more likely referring to a ( living legend ). Truth be said each and every release by [ Linear Bells ] brings a more sleek and colourful sound in the ear of his listeners.

“Lost I” is a strong piece, and a major development in the ambient line. It is a movement that is so varied in style and structure as it aim to efficacy and ingenious moments. One minute you’ll find yourself so completely wrapped up in the sound that your emotions tends to take control over your body and your soul while other sequences on the very same track is so detached to this world that you almost feel like you are on a different planet. The tracks manifest itself in various sequences in an ambient line of subtlety that is simply and exquisitely too gorgeous to be ignored.

David ability and taste for ambient beauty on [ Lost ] overspread and empowered everything he’s written before. His unique way of portraying and exercising his ideas and thoughts in music makes him a none-ignorable artist with a sublime endowment, the word genius doesn’t even come close to what he is capable of…, The lengthy loops, the discreet moments of piano/keys-led grace that add up to one of the most extraordinary encounter in sound that can push you far ahead the horizon and as high above the sky.

There is no denying that the sound compiled by [ Linear Bells ] in “Lost” or any other releases are music’s mostly intended for film series and visual based documentaries as they unlock your imagination to see daily objects and routine lifestyles in a whole different perspective. The sound by [ Linear Bells ] slowly and captivatingly pushes you mind to reach for places you would never dare to enter in real life as it’s only through music and sound that you can achieve those boundaries. I’ve said that before on [ Linear Bells ] and I am saying it again today [ STRAIGHT 10 OUT OF 10 ] Album Here.

LOST is a journey through several cities where I literally loved to lose myself and sometimes my mind. It describes a personal immersion via Birmingham (UK), Altea (Spain), Venice (Italy), Nantes (France) and all the feelings that come with it. I experimented with different new techniques on this release, Equipement used : LF generator, Guitar, Cello, Tape, Field recordings. hope you enjoy...
