Off the new album 'We Are A Curse', “Neanderthals” is a new track release from The Dream Eaters, the project of Jake Zavracky and Elizabeth LeBaron (formerly known as ‘Jake and Elizabeth’). Both share vocal duties on this track, in addition to the anthemic choir effect to the chorus, which lends a nice element to the already-soaring hook. With polished production emphasizing the eclectic nature of quality chamber-pop, from the twinkling choir around 02:40 to the infectious percussive stuttering effect in the first verses, “Neanderthals” is an impressive project from a quickly rising duo with heaps of potential.
The Dream Eaters' story began in 2015. After playing clubs with various projects and languishing in obscurity for years in his hometown of Boston and later in New York City, Zavracky decided to stop performing completely. Then, while working as a bartender at a dive bar in Brooklyn. he met LeBaron, another bartender who had just relocated from Vancouver Island, BC. Discovering that they were fellow musicians, they began to collaborate and found an instant connection.
As a composer and producer, Zavracky began writing songs for LeBaron to sing alone but soon found their voices blended together in harmony to create a wholly unique sound. The duo released several singles and EPs under the name Jake and Elizabeth, changing it to The Dream Eaters before the release of their self-produced debut EP 'Five Little Pills'. A bare-bones production that they self-recorded and released, it was a precursor to the sound that is now fully realized on their full-length debut album,' We Are A Curse', which was released on April 14th, 2017.

Following the successes of previous EPs and 2016's Entropy, a 24-minute experimental musical work created for an exhibition of art by Lauren Crazybull, new release, Exterior, comes as a new collection of 5 pieces looking outward and upward. Inspired by the mesmerizing sights and sounds of Hawaii’s fiery coastline, folk singer-songwriter and talented actress Emma Charlestontakes listeners on a magical journey on her new single “Volcano.”Featuring a track produced by Olly Liu and Taylor Pollock, “Volcano” is a pulsating and dreamy piece of electronic folk that describes the view from high above Hawaii’s ever-flowing lava. “Volcano” is the fourth single from Charleston’s forthcoming EP Enjoy the Ride (June 23). According to Charleston, “Volcano” is the product of an exhilarating experience in the heart of the Pacific: “I was inspired to write it after taking a helicopter trip to see Hawaii’s active volcanoes. The feeling of being so high and floating right over one of the largest lava sites was unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I sat in the front with the pilot, so I had a 360 view of this giant mass of lava as it bubbled over and made new patterns in the rock.”
DANI Le Rose just released her new single/video “I’ve Told Lies”. Following - “Cruel” and “Love U More”, the video is cinematic and revolves around an almost thriller like plot. Her character stays quite numb and emotionless in all of the videos. She has developed this trait as a theme for the whole project. Actor ‘Len Harvey’ plays the role of an obsessive lover who’s so wrapped up in the relationship that he doesn’t realize he’s causing harm. The video was Shot at the beautiful yet haunted ‘Arundel Mansion’ located in New Westminster.
Since moving to Vancouver, DANI Le Rose has been spending as much time as possible developing her sound. She has had the pleasure of working alongside artists such as Elle King and Zella Day.
Orellana is a neo-classical/post-rock collective hailing from Bristol, UK. Their new album “52”, released in late December, brought in the new year with it’s explosive and intricate sound. The project’s music transcends genre definitions in order to focus on a broad, diverse concept that is more emotional than tangible. This particular release is full of rich and diverse arrangements, but it is also a powerful exercise in minimalism, one that showcases the strength of very few notes placed in the right spots. The simplicity of the arrangement is actually one of the strongest aspects of this entire release: there’s a palpable stillness created by the long, drone notes in the background, which almost makes you feel like the world is happening in slow motion. When the chords and notes change, it feels quite monumental due to the beautiful contrast between the stillness of the background textures and the expressive sound of the guitar-based melodies.

The band’s music stands out as a combination of tasteful progressive rock, with shades of various influences, ranging from alternative to symphonic hard rock, just to mention a few.
