In addition to her own music Stella Rio has been working on Canadian DJ's DVBBS latest Wicked Ways EP, which just came out. She's also been writing for the new Little Mix album Glory Days.
Don't Go Away is about meeting that special person and feeling that you’re connected on a deeper level and never wanting to let that feeling go. Most people can relate because deep down most people chase that kind of love.
“Hewing Crowns” is the first single from Her Harbour's sophomore release, and is the oldest song on the album. She chose it as the opening track and first release as I felt it introduced the space from which I started writing Go Gently Into the Night and that it could serve as a preface to the demons I attempted to quell in making the album.
Out on February 3, 2017 with E-Tron Records, 'Go Gently Into the Night' is about cycles. Her Harbour wrote the songs at a time where death felt omnipresent. This album has been her attempt at making peace with death as a character of growing importance in my life.
Edited by Mike Dubue, the video is made up of found footage from the 1966 short film “Silent Snow, Secret Snow” by Conrad Aiken. I wrote and produced the album in Ottawa and recorded with Dave Draves at Little Bullhorn Studio.
Dario is a naturalized US Citizen from California now living in Europe. However, his parents were foreigners. He took music lessons in the 80's, but eventually decided that what he loved most was songwriting, which he learned from carefully studying the structure of songs by Chic and Brass Construction (70's funk band). In 1990 he recorded some demos inspired by vocal deep house music of artists such as Fingers inc (Larry Heard). He then had to attend college and work and left music behind. In 2008 he participated as a liner notes writer in a pair of CD's released by NowAgain / Stones Throw Records. He was selected for those projects thanks to a specialized website he managed on rare 45rpms. This inspired him to get back into music and in 2011 he released his first single. He has had minor success in Italy where he was featured in a campaign by clothing firm Sisley (Benetton) and in an article on Vice magazine, as well as on a radio program on Italy's main radio and TV network RAI. His recordings all feature amazing session guitar players, including Hugh Williams from Florida and Philip Ockelford from near Cambridge (U.K). In 2013 Dario started studying Buddhist meditation and decided that his songs would be based on the well-being and spiritual concepts that he is learning.
At a speed of 125 BPM, this fast paced song has self-help spiritual lyrics that invite the listeners to look at what is right about themselves in moments when other aspects of their lives might not be going well. Musically the song has influences from early 80's Brit Jazz-Funk bands. Particularly the Moog Synthesizer reminds of the band Shakatak. The song is sung entirely in falsetto, similar to the High Energy star Sylvester who along with synthesizer star Patrick Cowley are also an inspiration in this dance recording. Cambridge U.K. based guitar player Philip Ockelford provides a combination of funky rhythm guitar and Santana style solo guitars. South African backing vocalist Nyakwezi provides harmonies. The recording has a real drummer played by Italian musician Maurizio Antonini. Hugo Iglesias plays bass. The star of the recording is the Chicago-based keyboard player Terrell 'Bishop' Beane who takes the song to magical heights with his Moog Synthesizer.
NO TERRAIN is the brainchild of the Toronto, CA based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and world renowned street performer Aidan Koper. Koper who also astounds audiences with his dangerous, circus-like stunts under the moniker Billions Cobra has graced the 'The Late Show' stage with David Letterman, and even displayed his talents for the likes of Ellen Degeneres, Natalie Portman, and the president of Singapore! The self-titled NO TERRAIN EP which was released on November 18th, was recorded at Leon Taheny's Union Sound studio in Toronto. A few of Taheny's credits as a producer include work with Dilly Dally, Weaves, Owen Pallett, and being the recipient of the first ever Polaris Music Prize for Owen Pallett's album He Poos Clouds. Musically the NO TERRAIN EP is a five song collection of synth-heavy, melodic gems that embrace the essence of 80's New Wave while steering clear of any sonic cliches.
NAAL is an eclectic music project led by Chicago composer Dave Mantel. This talented musician has a true passion for great melodies and haunting musical textures. His blend of ambient, shoegaze and experimental drone music feels personal and unique, echoing the work of artists such as Slowdive, Boards of Canada or Sigur Ros, just to mention a few.
Heavy, impactful and energetic. These are some of the words that come to mind when describing Tuber’s recent studio effort, the full-length album “Out of The Blue.”
