Based out of Orange, California, Manifest Wallace is an American hip-hop/pop artist whose calling is to inspire the world and share the message that you can achieve absolutely anything if you believe in yourself. His new single "Volcano", off his EP 'Look Around', is a testament to that inspiration.
"Volcano" came together in early January of 2017 as I was working on my EP 'Look Around' that dropped in May," Manifest explains. "At this point in my career, I believe that I am just a moment away from blowing up (or erupting) and that is what "Volcano" represents. The first verse of the song is all about the grind and how I feel I am going to blow. The second verse and outro, however, are more like streams of consciousness and I just wanted to allow the listener to interpret it own their own and really give thought into the message I was portraying."
"As far as the creative process goes, this was the first time that I didn't write any lyrics down, which allowed for me to flow effortlessly over the instrumental and create new flows in the process. I recorded "Volcano" all in one session (about 2/3 hours) along with two other songs."
Introducing California’s indie, Americana/folk band LA River Bend. Built upon intricate guitar embelishments, indie-folk facets and poetically pop melodies, LA River Bend have succeeded in creating an album of happy nostalgia. The four-piece, made up of Nate Weiner (Vocals, Guitar), Emily Elkin (Cello, Vocals), Branden Stroup (Bass, Vocals, Guitar) and Jacob Seldes (Drums) have honored traditions of Americana folk, by building the walls of their epic soundscapes, embracing the dynamics and ultimately developing an aesthetic unique to their own.
The band began life as backing Weiner’s solo album, ‘Ride The Sun’ where the group spent time rehearsing and touring up and down the West Coast. After spending hours recording and mixing tracks for this project, with long time friend Stroup and the addition of Elkin’s string arrangements, LA River Bend was born. With the introduction of their now signature three-part harmonies and Seldes on percussion, the new and improved band mastered their authentically rustic, yet beautifully atmospheric sound. Nate explains, “The addition of Seldes to the band is immeasurable, because I think our sound would have been less dimensional without his style of drumming."
LA River Bend’s upcoming EP entitled Run These Hills was entirely self-recorded by Stroup. Mastered by Grammy award-winning Eric Boulanger (Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, Green Day), the EP has already received the stamp of approval from industry professionals. Focused thematically on the symbolism of nature based imagery, the tracks on the highly anticipated new music depicts an artfully serene feeling, reaching emotional depths. “The calming influence of nature in LA has been a huge musical inspiration to us”, professes Weiner.
Leading single, 'Summer Wind’ is the ultimate feel-good love song. Highlighting the band’s approach of exploring the new So Cal ethereal sound, the single emits a sense of ebb and flow, similar to the motion of waves crashing and sweeping against the beach. With stunning three-part harmonies, driving drum beats and catchy Californian melodies, the song builds into a fast paced, toe-tapping anthemic chorus, where you’ll find yourself incapable of keeping still.
‘Mountain’ is the perfect combination of infectious rhythms, complex layers and uncompromising percussive elements. The track features the bands shared love of world rhythms, with it’s building crescendos, sensational string arrangements and the complementing vocals of Weiner, Elkin & Stroup, the song is certain to be stuck in your head all day long. The narrative of the song derived from the band's struggle to keep pursuing music, despite the myriad of reasons why they shouldn’t.
Whilst ‘Fighting The Night’ is a poignant and emotional narrative of one trying to cope with deep loss. Struggling with the death of his father, Weiner found himself in a state of turbulence, “I was definitely ‘Fighting The Night’, exercising the demons and guilt I felt over my father’s passing.”
With an ever-growing fan base and buzzing media interest, LA River Bend are ready to release Run The Hills and deliver their collection of relaxing, vivid, nature themed music, bringing a contemporary and fresh approach to the indie folk genre.
"Wander" is a meditation on memory, asking what fills the cognitive void that comes from a lost relationship, while pondering the phenomenon of re-connection.
Formed in 2016 after years of friendship and late night music nerd-out sessions, Emme is the indie-electro project of Sowmya Somanath and Walter Nichols. Having come up in both eastern and western classical music traditions, Somanath and Nichols balance their musical knowledge with their artistic intuition, resulting in a unique take on a pop duo. The two went to music school together, singing in an a cappella group together, and sharing their love of Spongebob together.
Symmetry is a constant source of inspiration for Emme. The name is a wink to mathematician and physicist Emmy Noether, whose eponymous 1915 theorem brought natural symmetries and mathematics together in a way no one had yet to do.
Experiencing Emme live can feel like standing inside a gemstone. Reflections flutter, refractions bounce, and transformations weave about in the form of Somanath’s lush vocals and Nichols’s eclectic mix of saxophone, synthesizers, and effects. The resulting songs question pop conventions; they both challenge and reward.
Sneakers is a soul-filled collaborative community of musicians and artists from the streets of Auckland, New Zealand. The community is lead by Nick Raven and Chris Dent, who have been writing and recording in living rooms, basements and bedrooms since 2014. As the crew expanded the music took on new shapes. Sean Patterson, Matt Bizzle, Hannah Rolfe, and Dean Rodrigues make up a rich palette of sonic and visual wonder to draw from. Chris and Nick work closely together, with Nick taking a producer's approach and Chris using a hands-on singer/songwriter approach.
The result is a set of slick, emotive and groovy tunes. The project's debut single "Come Around Sundown" was released on October 4th, 2017.
"Come Around Sundown" started off as a funky acoustic number, but after we jammed with the live band it found a new life with disco beats, psychedelic organs, slick guitar and soulful sax," Chris explains. The entire song was recorded in Chris’s inner city Auckland lounge using borrowed gear and an abundance of time. Two years on the band set up at Depot Sound Studios in Auckland with Morgan Allen to sculpt the mix. The song was then sent to Sage Audio in Nashville, where it was mastered by Steve Corrao.

A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
