Instrumental band, Glorie, was formed in Memphis in the spring of 2009 by former Satyrs frontman, Jason Paxton, after an eight year hiatus from playing music. The other members of Glorie (Jonathan Kirkscey, Rob Brimhall, Andy Saunders, and Jeff Hulett) come from diverse musical backgrounds and have performed with an impressive array of artists such as Cat Power, Jay Reatard, The Bloodthirsty Lovers, Snowglobe, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and Al Green.
The band started as a desire to create more substantive, engaging instrumental music with a strong focus on melody. Their music blends acoustic, electric, and electronic sounds and draws inspiration from many genres including rock and instrumental hip- hop. Texturally, the instrumentation is diverse including layers of strings, synthesizer, guitar, piano, and vibraphone creating an entrancing thick wall of sound with a cinematic quality.

Review:
From the first self-title “Glorie” album to a series of exquisite videos released in (2012) this enigmatic group of musicians has come a long way. A week ago their latest brand new EP “Falling” made its way to my inbox like a deserted child with the need of some proper attention. So I decided to go along with the flaw giving it all I got.
Without beating around the bush the big question is… so how is this new EP by [ Glorie ]? Well to start with “Falling” is absolutely moving and thought-provoking. There is a strong sense of nostalgia across the entire EP, more specifically on the track “Smoke” and “Falling” which almost left me to tears while listening to over and over. The one thing we can all be certain of is… With this new release [ Glorie’s ] aim is not to rebuilt or reinvent the term post-rock or at least at this phase of their musical careers but their approach on this EP is utterly and undoubtedly ecstatic. Their notes and simple execution gleamed in the dark and bring life and hopes to the surface.
“Falling EP” accomplishes a set of strongly defined strings command that evokes some of the most profound inner emotion I have ever experience. [ Glorie’s ] manifest with major strings from their heart and slender violins chords that are undeniably touching as they reveal every fragile layers in sequence and in harmony. Piano / Keys are totally well executed and flows flawlessly in parallel with violin and cello. No glitch, no break up, no hiccup, it’s like a whole bunch of instrumental equipment’s that came together and aligned themselves PROPER and in order. Almost as if they were made to complement each other’s naturally.
Downside and Favourite Tracks.
“Falling EP” total length is only about twenty-five minutes in duration. It’s not so much of a downside since it’s an EP and we can all understand the concept behind but when facing music of such caliber and sounds that are executed with such precision, believe me twenty-five minutes is not long enough, you’d wish for the sound never to end.
Favourite tracks, the entire EP is totally BRILLIANT and extremely well produced but if you really want to know “Run Away”, “Smoke” and “Falling” are KILLER MOVEMENTS and definitely the high of this EP. A lot of people has already managed to get this recording in high quality waves format but for those who haven’t yet, well do expect something utterly beautiful coming your way soon. __[ M S T ].

[ The Artist ] ~ The Project [ Nikki Grace Experience ] was born in the year 2010. The Idea of the musical fusion rose from my novel Eta Carinae, existing since 2008. I try to put all dark and sinister images into musical landscapes and post-rockish and ambiental walls. I'm always inspired by journeys through my home, Germany, the Woods, the people, all strange things I see every day, and over there I'm inspired from other beautiful countries like Ireland, the northern countries, all this, with its breath of coldness but beautiful strangeness. I think Music must be a kind of Heart and Soul and the Heart of the Soul turns into Music. [ __the artist ].
Discography Under "The Nikki Grace Experience".
"The Album 'REST' was recorded and mastered by myself in my own Proclambient (means Progressive-Classical-Ambient) Studio at my Home in Germany. It was a process about one year, I put all my ideas together, first on piano (that's played by myself on a Midi keyboard). The speeches on "Broken Home" I took from a Creative Commons blog --it's a preacher who's talking and weeping about God and Jesus-- together it's my interpretation of a broken home that's left and leaving. All strings I used were formed from synthesizer tunes into real strings by myself.
The dialogue on "Playback rewind..." are recorded in Dutch speech one year ago by myself; it's an old Woman which would not leave alone her old cassette player. Sad story I think, deep minded and terrible. "Easy Steps Moving Downward" is the newest one on this release. It's my own favorite, a little bit jazzy I think. It's a view to the next releases I'm working on. The drums are created by myself on a drum machine that I use for my computer, also Midi into real stuff.
[ Argumentum e Silentio - Ten Sticks of Willow Charcoal ]
[ Ten Sticks of Willow Charcoal ] is the latest release from Marko H. AKA [ The Nikki Grace Experience ]. Although this album has been released under a different moniker [ Argumentum e Silentio ] which is Marko H side project. [ Argumentum e Silentio ] combines instrumental compositions with samples and field recordings, with influences from ambient and soundtrack music. The idea of [ argumentum e silentio ] was born with my novel "quaint music - the alphabet theory" -- an a-z story of music mysteries. So i would like to thank all the people who loves my work with -[ argumentum e silentio ] and [ The Nikki Grace Experience ].
New Video From Upcoming Album [ Walnut Grove´s Sunset Diaries ].
============================================ [ [ Argumentum e Silentio - Ten Sticks of Willow Charcoal ] ]. ============================================Major thanks to the collaborating artist [ Lotte Kestner ]… one of the better beneficiaries of ambient music and needles to say prominence of the present decade [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] a gentle and exquisite of a lead melody accompanied by piano and a steady beat. But above all else… we talking bonus point here guys, [ Lotte Kestner ] lovely lead vocal.
“Hearse: Black and White Opinion” is [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] 10th releases and rapidly attaining the zenith point of an abstract and underground success. All without any radical change from where the band was in 2012 with “Rest” or “Halo”. Marko Hupel oversaw all the production; the core emphasis remained a nexus point between minimalism and ambient all shrouded in mystery of a long journey.
Though many songs work with full arrangements, for instance "The Heartshaped Coffins," or “Proudly Waving Farewell,” those pieces attributes thick and dominating resonance but never once overpowering the combination of the various elements that are blend together. All movements on this particular album are heavily stripped-down to demonstrate in various ways as to how [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] or the collaborating artists for that matter, makes a virtue out of simplicity.
We’ve had many previews of this album “Quiet Painting,” “Proudly Waving Farewell” and more, we knew well in advance something big and totally exquisite is going to hit us on the 26th of April 2013. Truth be said there is no absolute point in beating around the bush over the fact that [ The Nikki Grace Experience ] 10th releases includes some of the most beautiful crowning moment within the ambient scene. Many will agree that “Hearse: Black and White Opinion” somehow… magically possesses the power to force you in to romanticism, if not I’ll even stretch describing it as a nostalgic breakdown and weeping tears.
But that in mind let’s not forget while “Hearse: Black and White Opinion” attracts an unlimited elements of subtlety and nostalgia, movement such as “Homeless (The Wisconsin Oddysey) come’s dressed up with an up-beat attire and is so beautifully arrange that it will leaves you breathless. We’ve got eight months to go before the year end and I’ve already put aside 5 of my top 2013 releases. This one my friend jumps to the 01st top of 2013 release. I can only wish for this release to be press on Vinyl or print on CD’s as a limited edition.
Based on the quoted tags [ Ambientscape ] ~ [ Dreamscape ] ~ [ Classical-ambient ] let it be [ Divergence ] or [ Rest ] or [ A()anda "EP" ] and [ A()anda Partur 2 ] you simply need to get your hand of all 4 releases. I was streaming [ Rest ] earlier this am and man... I'm impressed. Seriously guys... you don't even need to stream them just go right ahead and downloads all four titles as you in for super classical-ambient treat here. [ __TheSirensSound ].

============================================ The Nikki Grace Experience- Hearse: Black And White Opinion ============================================Oxide Tones started up as an online store in November 2004. Back then, I was frustrated at having to pay 17€ (and more) for a CD, as well as at the lack of choice in Germany. I ended up buying CDs online, and having them sent from USA, Japan as well as other European countries. This of course involved paying customs and high shipping fees. So I started to import more, with the intention of selling the CDs to other like-minded fans who were experiencing the same difficulties getting hold of decent music. Since then, Oxide Tones has sold over 5000 CDs to customers all over the world. It turned out that Post Rock fans liked the idea of buying multiple CDs from someone who liked the same music, as I am able to recommend artists and CDs.
After speaking to a couple of bands towards the end of 2010, I realised that I may be able to help small and yet unknown bands with their plans. As most bands don’t start with a bang or a big budget, it can be difficult for them to get onto a label. Although there are a few labels out there that really dig Post Rock, they of course can’t take every band on. Basically, I’ll try and work with bands to find out what they need, and how I can help. In some cases it may just be getting a run of CDs printed, in other cases it may be getting CDs onto the market to distributors.
I don't really mind on what formats music is released, digital is a no brainer nowadays, CDs are cool, and in some cases I'll do vinyl too. It depends on the music, the band, and the necessary funding. Being an indepedant label, and also a one-man show, means that I decide what to release, based on my own tastes. To give you a fair idea on what I usually covers in terms of type of music. Below is my present catalog. NOTE that there are some few unannounced one's that I am still working on. Latest release in this case is [ The Sun Aesthetic ] album "Thicker Threads".
UP TO DATE CATALOG:
06.2011 [ Until Sunrise - Until Sunrise – CD ]The Sun Aesthetic is a project that consists of Anthony Raad from California. He aims to create organic sounds through electronic means with ambient and post rock influences. Up to date the band has released 3 albums in the following order:
2012 - [ Composure ][ Thicker Thread ] There are so many different genres of rock music in the world, it’s difficult to keep track some times. That in itself is a great thing, it means a change is happening, an evolution. Music is a display of diversity and unity. It’s a forum in which we can bring our thoughts ideas and skill, put them on the table and say: "this is who I am, this is what I’ve got. Love it or leave it. Love me, don’t judge me."
The spirit and mind of this musician is wonderful, in fact it’s refreshing, seeing musicians stepping up and getting their work out is a delight for me, a man who’s been in the game for years. This guy’s a man from California, America, stepping up to the plate and knocking it out of the park. Ladies and Gentlemen, I bequeath unto you, The Sun Aesthetic.
The album kicks with a soft string section, subtle throw back to Samuel Barber’s 1936 epic, Adagio for strings, but Aesthetic picks it up in an amazing resolution and gives us a quaint vibe, and feel good velocity. It becomes clear quite quickly that he is in fact a percussive artist, the sporadic shuffles move between, ambience and a distinct West African influence, it's moving.
‘Bigger Circles’ gives us a soft rhythmic juxtaposition between vibraphone and piano in a style reminiscent of gamelan and Indian culture, it’s short and sweet, ‘Ghost Clouds’ is not nearly as morbid as its title would suggest, the pentatonic variations are passive, submissive, yet somehow showing you who’s in control. The highlight for me is the stylistic groove of ‘Fracture.’ It’s amazing, bringing a hint of funk to the table and that makes it golden in my eyes.
These are just my favourite selections, the album in its entirety creates a resonant vibration, you experience a sense of joy, a desire to tackle your deepest fears, right the wrongs in the world, and experience the world for its beauty. The fusion of some lesser known world music influences shows this guy’s ability to absorb sound and meld it into one delicious mood.
Thicker Threads pushes the limits, It has a subtle reverberation which you may not even notice, but when it’s gone you feel it. An album for the evenings and the mornings, an experience for rainy days and sunny afternoons, for the playing in the park with your children and loved ones, an uplifting grace for when you’re down. But most of all, it’s a cure for silence. Enjoy.
[ Adeline ]. Completely out of the blue, this EP is a continuation of Thicker Threads, although more delicate and even calming than the previous album. Each track is an electronic treat, sweeping atmospherics and piano driven melodies, journeys reflecting emotional situations, this is the music that every- and anyone can fall in love with.
============================================ < < < < < [ The Sun Aesthetic - Adeline ]. > > > > > ============================================ ============================================LABIRINTO
From São Paulo city, the group was formed in 2003 by the desire and experience of friends whom aimed to work out their musical influences through the composition of instrumental music. Inspired by feature movie scores, experimental music bands & sounds and references that go beyond music itself - like arts, photography and literature -, the compositions look in to create textures and images based vibes: as in a sound track, but casting the listener to come up with the picture and scenario on his own mind.
Labirinto develops sounds, timbres and dynamics that are all equally blended, avoiding the predominance of a unique sound source. Their harmonics constructions - done by guitars, bass and drums, followed by analogic and digital synths, cello, violin, piano e other instruments - prioritize the emotions aroused by running through the whole aesthetic labyrinth.
In addition to the musical environment, the band seeks to maintain close relations to various artistic languages: designing posters and projecting images during the concerts together with visual artists; composing soundtracks to short movies and documentaries; using illustrations from graphic artists, in both physical and virtual materials produced by the band. Labirinto is acknowledged as a pioneer in developing its musical style in Brazil. Their references are based on post-rock, progressive rock, experimentalism, minimalism, classical and Brazilian popular music. After some years of career consolidation, the band is one of the most respected and renowned in the indie scene, getting good reviews from the public and the press.
After 4 EPs, Labirinto releases its first full length album, “Anatema” at Dissenso Records, on CD and triple vinyl version. The album was produced by the band and mixed by Greg Norman in Chicago, at Steve Albini’s (who produced classics from Nirvana and Pixies) Electrical Audio Studios and mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering. The cover llustrations were created by João Ruas, a cover artist from the american comic book magazine “Fables”.
“Anatema” presents six tracks, each having more than ten minutes length, that should launch Labirinto as a major name in the post-rock-scene worldwide. Instructed in studio work, the group made the production in a real watchmaker work, using over 150 channels in order to register more than six guitar parts included in the final mix. The result are tempos with unexpected climaxes and anticlimaxes in an music full of images, a multiple and sensorial experience that gets colored while the instrumental evolution suggests unexpected trips.
[ FROM THE BAND ]. For those who are not following the news on our social medias (facebook / twitter), its with great joy that we announce that Labirinto is touring right now Europe. This is the band’s third tour abroad, and the first time on the old continent, and we’ve got only the best things to say so far; it has been an intense experience and culturally very wealthy in our lives.
This journey started at the awesome Dunk!Festival (one of the largest festivals of post-rock, post-metal and experimental music in the world), which happened in Belgium between the 29th and 31st March. We played and lived over the three days with bands that we admire so much such as I Like Trains, Syndrome, Pg.lost, Stephen O 'Malley (SunnO))), Kokomo, Maserati, and many more.
Right after we headed to Portugal, where we performed in the fantastic cities of Porto and Benavente, with the support from our Portuguese friends from Amplificasom, and we felt so "like at home", speaking our idiom so far from home. We played in Don Benito, Spain, last friday (5), in a fabulous venue, where we met the most wonderful people and celebrated Erick's birthday (Labirinto's guitar player), with the best "happy birthday" choir ever, in Spanish with the audience, and live broadcasting of the performance on their radio and online channel ( the whole show can be watched online, we'll inform the link on our next newsletter ).
And finally, we played in Chambéry, on the french alps, on Monday (8). The fifth show of this tour - with an awesome train route passing right behind the stage, the most beautiful landscapes and the best beers - and now we're getting to the middle of the tour. So, we take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to people that are coming to the shows, that are helping to spread the word about the tour and has been supporting the band! Below are all tour dates listed, and keep posted on our social medias and our newsletter for more and more news very soon.
Latest Video From [ Kadjwynh ] Piam Ket.
The new animation video for Piam Ket - track featured on the band's latest EP, Kadjwynh (2012) - seeks to transmit the suffering and despair of indigenous people in means the construction of the Belo Monte plant on the Xingu River, in Brazil. The director, Ricardo Sasaki, is the same artist who created the illustrations for the EP and gave life to the concept adopted for the album during this 3:38" animation.
Kadjwynh means "vital energy" in the Kayapó language ( one of the most combative people to the implementation of the plant ), and this element would be present in their relation with the ecosystem where they live, and their ancestors lived. For the Kayapó there are three vital elements in life: the body, the spirit and the vital energy. The Kadjwynh would be the most affected with the construction of the plant, something irretrievable. At the same time presenting an indigenous thematic, the narrative of the animation tries to relate the issue of Belo Monte with other wounds experienced by different contemporary societies.
[ PRE-ORDER "LABIRINTO SPLIT THISQUIETARMY" ]
Expected Release JUNE 2013 - The experimental post-rock band Labirinto from Sao Paulo (Brazil) teams up with the prolific one-man guitar drone machine thisquietarmy from Montreal (Canada) to present their new recordings. They both met and played together in Montreal when Labirinto was touring in North America for the 2nd time (early 2012). While Labirinto & thisquietarmy hail from different hemispheres, they have a mutual admiration for each other's sound and work ethics, as well as their shared influences of textured sounds such ambient, psychedelic, post-rock & black metal. Furthermore, their common perspective of the world have bound them to create a record inspired by cultural & social values, political situations and universal phenomenons.
As an ambitious 7-piece band, Labirinto's instrumentation includes a combination of orchestral guitar riffs, synthesizers, bass, cello, drums & percussion. Their critically acclaimed 2010 debut album "Anatena" was by mixed Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles), followed by their "Kadjwynh" EP in 2012. This time, they asked Tony Doogan (Mogwai) to mix the brand new material for their side of this split record.
thisquietarmy is known for his outputs on respected experimental labels such as Denovali (Germany), Aurora Borealis (UK), Basses Frequences (France) & Alien8 Recordings (Canada), as well as his numerous collaborations with Aidan Baker, Scott Cortez (lovesliescrushing), Monarch, Noveller, Year of No Light & Yellow6. His hypnotic live performances are usually accompanied by abstract ethereal visuals, as seen on his European tours with Aidan Baker, AUN, Caspian, Nadja & Year of No Light. He was also the founder of shoegaze/post-rock band Destroyalldreamers. On his side of the record, he showcases the different sides of his staple drone buildups & dark ambient soundscapes.
Both acts will be touring Europe in April 2013 (separately but crossing paths), including a stop at Dunk! Festival for Labirinto before embarking on a South American tour together to promote the release of this split in June 2013. The record will be release worldwide on CD by ConSouling Sounds (Belgium), and on vinyl LP by Dissenso Records (Brazil) & Pirate Ship Records (USA).

Review
"It's rather lovely when you see a lot of hard work paying off for an individual and his group. BRIAN! is a group from Ithaca NY and play a lovely blend of genres. At the heart of it all is a clear harkening to classic progressive rock and R.I.O groups. Close behind in the race is our favorite stand by math rock and some experimentation. Its admirable that the left field throws don't get out of hand and stay pretty grounded for the most part. What is made even more interesting in this three piece is the inclusion of a bassoon player. Which to be honest is done incredibly well and lends an almost modern comp. bent to the whole affair.
When I first saw them play they were a much more experimental duo with just guitar and bassoon. They had a lot of great idea's to be sure but still had some thing's to figure out. The drums were the final key to fleshing out the song's and its obvious a lot of time was put in to making them click just right. Gotta say its a lot of fun and there really is something for everyone into this sort of biz. Can't say there is much going right now that is on this vibe..all the better. Wonderful" __[ Plenty Of Swords ].

DISCOGRAPHY
2010 ~ Wake Of A Dying Nation[ The Drone Collective ] ~ Slightly drifted apart from the experimental aspect of [ This Is Not A Conceptual Album ] The Drone Collective in its complete form lead [ Taimur Mazhar Sheikh ] and [ Omer Asim ] in standard to [ Methadrone ] and [ Nadja / A. Baker ] territories where guitar tones are amplitude to its largeness and camouflaging songs in endless and epic swirling loops. Although [ The Drone Collective ] is set in its chronological order still... having heard the album dozens of times over the course of a week, the release in its entirety do not pertains a point of entry or exit. One can literally hit play from the very beginning of the album or start at the middle, the fact remains every single track on this title simply sound like an opening of something very big and that’s about to lead somewhere deep and profound.
[ In the Land of Dreams ] is an attempt to portray a blanket of comfort and false consolations that we have, the denial and distractions that we can maintain, which keeps us sane for the most part. There are occasional glimpses of 'What the fuck am I doing?', the fact that time is running out and you should do something useful, but instead only the feeling of helplessness and worthlessness settle in. It is a Long (nearly 2 hours), simple and vague album, hidden behind dialogues on various tiring topics. It's music that has no energy left on its own, but is soft enough to dissolve in your head and swim in the puddle (or chasm) of thoughts that you may have, if you let it. But to a distracted mind, ironically, it is mere elevator music.
[ The Last Strands Of Fortitude ] is really beautiful as it differs to majority of the [ 6LA8 ] records which pertain 20mins to 30miis movements. [ 6LA8 ] tend to keep all tracks reasonably short on this new record focusing more the particular sections such as keys output and electronic layers. The opening track “very unusual” contains some lyrics so do expect to hear the band in a complete form. Although I wouldn't go as far as saying it’s a radical change from the band as elements of darkness and drone subtleties are still the core layers of the music but overall yes [ The Last Strands Of Fortitude ] stand for itself in a unique outfit. This is definitely worth the listening, so check it out guys.

============================================ < < < < < [ Robr Auclr - Rubicon ]. > > > > > ============================================ ============================================DRUNK ROBOTS is a Portuguese electronic music project. It started sketching and drafting ideas in late November 2011 and start producing late December of the same year. Until now, DRUNK ROBOTS is a fully Internet based project with no intent for physical releases [ CD, DVD, USB.... or whatsoever ].
First release of the drunk machines "WE SHOULD DO AN EP" released [ Feb 2012 ] is available for free on bandcamp - an EP with 2 tracks included on the album "WE ARE THE DRUNK ROBOTS" also released on bandcamp and two other tracks exclusive for this EP. "WE ARE THE DRUNK ROBOTS" is also available through the same channel on a fix price.
[ DRONES & BONES ] - I got into this experimental-electro sound not so long ago and posted all their releases. However on their latest title Drones & Bones underground composer of delicate, but gritty ambient and drone-electro [ Drunk Robots ] explores further in the dark abyss experimenting with subtle beat and underground vibes. The album is without a doubt a beautiful adventure in the concept of experimental beat, futuristic synth-laden and minimalist repetitions. What triggers me the most on Drones & Bones or by [ Drunk Robots ] for that matter is that his movements expressed his courage and open-mind attitude to the idea of doing crossovers, let it be a combination of subtle electro beat and drone elements or on an atmospheres point of view which definitely accommodates underground beat backed up by a hypnotic vibes [ Drunk Robots ] is all in for it.
The sound here is all drone and all electronic. The entire body of [ DRONES & BONES ] is cinematic in tone and the transitions from one trip to the other is almost flawless from the very beginning till the end. Yet again one of those sombre moments that feel like being caught in to something and trying to pull out breathlessly. It’s an excellent title that I would highly recommend based on the quoted tags. Check out the previews and go get them ALL.
The second LP from DRUNK ROBOTS is more harsher and noisy than the previous things, messing more with the industrial side of the project. DRUNK ROBOTS decided that "Aftermath" is available for €4, but if you pay more than €5 you'll receive a download code for the EP "interstícios", which will be only available this way. You can listen to one of "interstícios" track in the "collapsing labyrinth" single.

Nothing Important Happened Today, post-rock (almost) completely instrumental, composed by Michele, Jonathan, Davide, Daniele and Nicolò. Long reverbs and melodies, with some more aggressive attacks, and influences ranging from bands like This Will Destroy You, Caspian, Explosions In The Sky, Mono, If These Trees Could Talk, Liam, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Lantlôs and several others. The voice is not an essential element in this proposal, to allow the listener to interpret in a much more personal way the emotions felt by listening to the music.

[ Nothing Important Happened Today ]. Actually something important happened today. Today I discovered [ Nothing Important Happened Today ] and man for those who don't know of this moniker yet, you'll thank me and above all the band later but for now skip stream got strait to download and listen. This has nothing in common with the band [ Mutyumu ] but for some odd reason [ Mutyumu ] was the 01st name that came to mind. Especially while listening to the movement call "Il giorno della tempesta". That said if you want solid comparison I'd stick to [ If These Trees Could Talk ], [ EXPL In The Sky ], [ Mogwai ] and the likes. I wish this listen would last longer though.
